Brookes started his playing career icing for the Mercian Menace in 2009 to 2011 during his time in the U16's. He would the make the switch to the Coventry Blaze Junior Academy, again icing for the Blaze U16's in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. Brookes would finish his junior career in the Blaze Junior U18's side alongside icing for the Coventry NIHL Blaze.
In 2016, Brookes would Captain the Blaze U20 side alongside being the Assistant Captain for the NIHL Blaze scoring thirty-nine points in his forty one games that season.
Arthur has since played for the Coventry NIHL Blaze and will this season, play his tenth season for the team. Arthur leads the franchise in games played and is currently sat in third for all-time goals scored. Arthur recently picked up the Unsung Hero of the Season award for the 2023/24 season for his commitment to the team when he was called upon to lead the team and stand in as head coach.
