The IDP Coventry NIHL Blaze are pleased to announce the return of 19-year-old defenseman, Charles Coney, on a two-way contract with NIHL1 South Side MK Thunder Ice Hockey Club.

Coney, who returns for his second season since graduating from the Academy, registered 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists), and 28 penalty-minutes in 32 appearances for the NIHL Blaze last season.

On resigning for the NIHL Blaze Coney said…

“I am delighted to be returning for another season with the Coventry NIHL Blaze after the successes we had last year and I believe that we can continue to build on last season and strive to achieve even more this season “

NIHL Blaze Head Coach, Sean Alderson said…

“While last season was his first season as a senior Charles has been a part of the squad for three seasons now and he has shown good progress during that time, last season finishing our second highest scoring defenceman.”

“He also brings good size to a defensive line-up and is comfortable playing on either side which gives us options in our line-up.”
