IDP Coventry NIHL Blaze are pleased to announce the signing of 32-year-old defenseman, Anthony Pountney, for the 2024/25 season.

Pountney, who retired at the end of the 2021/22 season due to a work opportunity, returns to the NIHL Blaze to add depth to the defensive core.

On signing for the NIHL Blaze Pountney said…

“I’m excited to be back playing in blue again. The team had a great season last year and I hope to bring some depth and experience to the team to help build on recent achievements.”

“I also want to thank Sean for the opportunity to play hockey at this level again.”

NIHL Blaze Head Coach, Sean Alderson said…

“While it’s been a while since ‘Pounts’ has played NIHL level he has been training with us since the backend of last season which should help him make the transition back into it.”

“He also knows he will need to be patience with regards to his opportunities and his ice time but he is happy to do that while providing depth to our back end.”
